Ci Light Privacy Policy

Ci Light is a Chrome extension developed and published by Chatinbox Communications LLC (New Mexico, USA; “Chatinbox”). Contact: hello@chatinbox.net

In short: Ci Light has no server. The notes, reminders and templates you write stay only in the browser on this computer. Ci Light never sends messages.

What does Ci Light read?

Ci Light runs only on web.whatsapp.com and reads there:

The chat names, last-message preview and message time shown in the chat list: to work out how long a chat has been waiting for a reply and show it on screen,
The title and WhatsApp ID (usually the phone number) of the open chat: to attach a note or reminder to the right chat,
The text in the message box: only to recognise template shortcuts that start with “;”. This text is not stored.

What does Ci Light store, and where?

The following is stored only in the Chrome browser on the computer where the extension is installed (chrome.storage.local):

The chat notes you write (linked to the chat’s WhatsApp ID),
The reminders you set (chat name, phone number if known, reminder note and time),
Your template texts and settings, including the language you choose,
For chats you dismiss with “Dismiss”: the chat name and last-message preview (to show the chat again when a new message arrives).

Ci Light sends no information to Chatinbox or to anyone else. The extension has no server; it contains no advertising, analytics or tracking tools; it does not sell or share data.

Opening a chat by number

“Open a chat without saving the number” sends the number you enter to WhatsApp’s own link (web.whatsapp.com/send?phone=…). This is the same as typing the number into the browser’s address bar and is subject to WhatsApp’s privacy policy.

Notifications

Reminder notifications appear in your computer’s notification area. While “Hide screen” is on, the notification does not show the chat name.

Sending messages

Ci Light never sends messages. Templates are only placed in the message box; the user sends them.

Deleting your data

In the Ci Light panel, Settings → “Delete all Ci Light data” deletes every record. Removing the extension from Chrome also deletes every record.

Ci Light’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
