Step-by-step install
Get the early-access link
Ci Light is in early access. Write to us from the contact page and we will send you the link to the Ci Light page in the Chrome Web Store.
Add it to Chrome
Open the link in Chrome on your computer. Click "Add to Chrome", then "Add extension" in the window that opens. That window lists the permissions it asks for: read and change your data on web.whatsapp.com, and display notifications.
Log in to WhatsApp Web
Open web.whatsapp.com and log in as usual by scanning the QR code with WhatsApp on your phone. Ci Light never asks for a password or login details.
Open the Ci tab
Once the chat list loads, a green "Ci" tab appears on the right edge of the screen. Click it to open the panel. The number on the tab is how many chats are waiting for a reply.
Allow notifications
For reminder notifications, make sure Chrome notifications are on for your computer. Mac: System Settings → Notifications → Google Chrome. Windows: Settings → System → Notifications → Google Chrome.
What changes after you install it?
What changes
- A "Ci" tab is added to the right edge of WhatsApp Web
- Chats waiting for a reply show a waiting-time badge
- In the message box, ;shortcut and Tab bring in a template
What stays the same
- Ci Light never sends messages; you always press send yourself
- Nothing is installed on your phone or your WhatsApp account
- Your notes and reminders are not sent to any server
Common problems
The "Ci" tab does not appear. Reload the WhatsApp tab (F5, or Cmd+R on a Mac). If it is still missing, type chrome://extensions in the address bar and check that Ci Light is turned on.
The tab shows "!". Ci Light could not read part of the WhatsApp page; WhatsApp may have changed its layout. Open the panel and send the warning text at the top to our support team.
No reminder notification. Allow Chrome in your computer's notification settings. A due reminder also shows in the panel's Reminders tab.
Removing Ci Light
Type chrome://extensions in the address bar and click "Remove" on the Ci Light card. Removing the extension deletes every Ci Light note, reminder, template and setting in this browser.
Which data is stored where is written in the Ci Light privacy policy.
