The WhatsApp verified badge: what an Official Business Account is and how it differs from business verification
"Green tick" is the everyday name; Meta calls it an Official Business Account and the badge is now blue. It is often confused with business verification, but they are separate things: verification opens the API, the badge is the mark shown next to your name. Meta grants the badge and does not guarantee it.
For the badge, business verification must be complete, the number must have been on the API for at least 30 days, the display name approved and two-step verification on. Chatinbox submits the request on your behalf; Meta decides, and after a rejection you reapply after 30 days. The badge does not affect sending; everything works without it.
What you provide
- Completed business verification
- A number that has been live on the API for at least 30 days
- Two-step verification switched on for the number
What Chatinbox does
- Checks whether the conditions are met
- Submits the request through Meta's panel
- If rejected, tracks the waiting period and reapplies
- The difference between the badge and business verification
- Conditions and steps for applying
- Free badge versus paid Meta Verified
- What the badge does and does not do
The badge and verification are not the same thing
Business verification
- Meta's document-based check
- Required for the API to open
- Does not give a badge; it is the badge's precondition
- Details: business verification
Official Business Account (badge)
- The blue checkmark next to your name
- Applied for separately, after verification
- Meta grants it at its discretion; it is not required
- Does not change messaging rules, limits or pricing
Step by step
Meet the conditions
Meta looks for five things: compliance with the messaging policy, a number registered on the API for at least 30 days, completed business verification, two-step verification on for the number, an approved display name. If one is missing, the request cannot be opened.
Chatinbox checksThe request is submitted
The request is made in Meta's WhatsApp management panel, from the Official Business Account request under the number's profile section. Chatinbox carries out this step on your behalf.
Chatinbox handles itMeta decides
The result is approval or rejection. Meta does not have to explain the reason in detail and approval is not guaranteed; businesses that meet the conditions can still be refused.
Meta decidesIf rejected, wait 30 days
30 days must pass before a new request. In the meantime, using the number regularly and within policy, and building the business's outside recognition (website, press, social media), helps.
Free badge and paid Meta Verified
There are two separate routes. The Official Business Account described above is free; Meta grants it based on the business's authenticity and recognition. Meta Verified is Meta's paid subscription programme: it includes the badge, protection against impersonating accounts and support; which countries and account types it is open in changes over time.
We decide together which one suits you by checking Meta's current page for the price and for availability in Türkiye. This guide does not state a price; prices vary by country and are updated often.
What the badge does and does not do
Does
- Shows a checkmark next to your name
- Your display name appears even if the customer has not saved the number
- Makes you easier to tell apart from impersonating accounts
Does not
- Raise the messaging limit or change the quality rating
- Remove the 24-hour window or the template rule
- Give a discount on pricing
- Last forever; it can be withdrawn after a policy violation
